Azalea Formosa
Azalea Formosa is an upright hybrid evergreen shrub with narrow dark green foliage. Azalea Formosa produces clusters of large, rich lavender flowers with a dark blotch that begin blooming in spring. In colder climates, winter temperatures may freeze flower buds and reduce bloom in spring, and leaves may show winter burn. Azalea Formosa is a versatile plant that performs best in partial sun and thrives in acidic, rich, well-drained soils. Azaleas are excellent pollinator and butterfly attractors, making Azalea Formosa a beautiful choice for foundation plantings, woodland gardens, and mixed shrub beds. Azalea Formosa is also very sun tolerant and can handle near full sun, making it ideal for brighter locations.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low maintenance. Moderate water needs, properly drained soils is a must to avoid root rot. Mulch helps to keep roots from drying out. Keep away from drip lines of the walnut family. Acidify soils as needed (PH range of 5 to 6.5) Southern climates with excessive humidity are more prone to powdery mildew, twig blights, and rust. Azaleas are prone to many diseases and pest problems, but the proper environment and care should negate most of them.
