Itea Henry's Garnet
Itea Henry's Garnet is a broad, rounded deciduous shrub prized for its long-lasting fall color. The dark green oval leaves of Itea Henry's Garnet turn brilliant scarlet in autumn and persist until early winter. From spring into summer, small fragrant white flowers bloom on drooping cylindrical racemes, followed by attractive berries. Itea Henry's Garnetthrives in rich, moist to wet well-drained soils and can form dense colonies if suckers are left unchecked.
As a native plant, Itea virginica, the species behind Itea Henry's Garnet, serves as a host for the American Holly Azure butterfly in coastal plains and provides food for various bees, butterflies, and birds, making Itea Henry's Garnet both beautiful and wildlife-friendly.
