Hosta Guacamole

Hosta Guacamole is a shade-loving herbaceous perennial primarily grown for its foliage. Hosta Guacamole features large, curling basal leaves marbled with blue-green, soft green, and yellow streaks, with deep veins that add bold texture and color to shady garden areas. In mid-summer, Hosta Guacamole produces fragrant bell-like flowers in white-lavender that rise above the foliage on tall stems, attracting butterflies and adding seasonal interest. Hosta Guacamole performs best in partial sun with moist, well-drained soil, and it requires full shade in hot summer climates to maintain its vibrant leaf color.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS:   Low maintenance.  Snails and slugs can cause severe problems if left unchecked.  Foliar nematodes can cause interveinal browning. Plants infected with Hosta Virus X (HVX), tobacco rattle virus or tomato ring spot virus should be immediately removed from garden areas and destroyed.  Otherwise, little to no problems.

LANDSCAPE USES:  Accents or Group Plantings, Borders, Woodland Gardens, Naturalized Areas, Rock Gardens, and Containers.

COMPANION PLANTS:  Lungwort, Ligularia, Coral Bells
