Mahonia bealei
Mahonia bealei is an evergreen shrub with irregular upright stems arranged in a tiered habit, featuring leathery olive-green compound foliage that resembles spined holly leaves. In spring, Mahonia bealei produces long panicles of fragrant yellow flowers, followed by clusters of waxy blue-black berries that resemble grapes. Thriving in part sun with moist, well-drained acidic soil, Mahonia bealei is salt- and drought-tolerant, making it a resilient addition to landscapes. Note: Mahonia bealei is considered invasive in the southeastern United States.
