Fern-D. Southern Shield (Dryopteris ludoviciana) is a semi-evergreen to evergreen native fern with a tall, upright vase-like habit. Dryopteris ludoviciana produces glossy, leathery, triangular dark green fronds that can grow up to 2 feet long, creating a bold and structured presence in the landscape.
This fern thrives in rich, moist, acidic soil with some shade and becomes drought tolerant once established. Fern-D. Southern Shield (Dryopteris ludoviciana) is an excellent choice for shade gardens, woodland borders, and moist garden beds where a robust, long-lasting fern is desired.
