Dianella Variegata
Dianella Variegata is a clumping, herbaceous evergreen perennial prized for its striking, strappy green foliage edged with broad yellow margins. The bold variegation of Dianella Variegata adds year-round color and texture to borders, mass plantings, and shaded landscapes. This variegated flax lily forms a neat, upright clump that works beautifully as an accent plant or low-maintenance groundcover.
In spring, Dianella Variegata produces slender flower stalks topped with clusters of small blue flowers accented by bright yellow stamens. Flowering may be followed by glossy steel-blue berries, although fruiting is not always reliable. Dianella Variegata flowers best in part shade and thrives in dry to medium, well-drained soils. Once established, Dianella Variegata is drought tolerant and easy to care for, making it an excellent choice for low-water and low-maintenance landscapes.
