Barberry Golden Rocket

Barberry Golden Rocket is a narrow, upright branching deciduous shrub prized for its vibrant yellow foliage and tight, full-to-the-ground habit. The small leaves of Barberry Golden Rocket emerge in spring as a bright, showy yellow that contrasts beautifully with its coral-colored stems. This vivid color holds through summer before turning a stunning mix of red and orange in fall.

In spring, Barberry Golden Rocket produces tiny white flowers that are mostly unnoticeable, followed by small amounts of fruit. For best color, plant Barberry Golden Rocket in full sun with well-drained soil.

This hardy shrub is drought tolerant and deer resistant, making Barberry Golden Rocket an excellent low-maintenance choice for narrow hedges, borders, and landscape accents. Asexual propagation is prohibited.

Barberry has known use of the root bark as an anthelmintic, antiseptic and febrifuge, and can be used orally as a treatment for various enteric infections.*

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low maintenance.  Some susceptibility to bacterial leaf spot, anthracnose, root rots, wilt, aphids, barberry webworm, and scale.  Highly invasive in the Eastern States.
