Camellia Kanjiro

Camellia Kanjiro (Camellia sasanqua 'Kanjiro') is a full-sized evergreen camellia shrub known for its graceful semi-weeping habit and glossy dark green foliage that provides year-round landscape interest. This highly popular camellia produces abundant semi-double pink flowers accented with rich red edging and prominent yellow stamens.

Blooming from mid-fall through winter, Camellia Kanjiro delivers vibrant color during the cooler months while also attracting butterflies to the garden. Its elegant branching structure and long bloom season make it an excellent choice as a specimen shrub, foundation planting, or focal point in mixed borders.

For best performance, plant Camellia Kanjiro in partial sun with acidic, well-drained soil. This evergreen camellia thrives in Southern landscapes and shaded garden settings where it offers reliable beauty and seasonal color.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Medium maintenance. Too much water retention can increase susceptibility to fungal diseases, including root rot, black mold, blight, canker, anthracnose, and leaf spots.  Watch for aphids and spider mites.   Yellowing leaves indicate acidity too low. Fertilize monthly in spring and summer. If desired, remove all but one bud from each cluster to increase the size of the flower. Prune immediately after flowering.
