Fern Ostrich
Fern Ostrich (Matteuccia struthiopteris) is a clump-forming, upright deciduous fern known for its large, showy light-green fronds that resemble ostrich plumes. Fern Ostrich adds a bold, architectural presence to shaded landscapes and woodland gardens with its lush, upright foliage.
This fern performs best in part sun and moist, well-drained soil. Fern Ostrich (Matteuccia struthiopteris) produces edible fiddleheads in spring, making it both an attractive and functional addition to your garden.
Note: Deciduous ferns may remain dormant until late spring. During dormancy, the plant may appear as a pot of soil upon delivery, but a healthy, robust Fern Ostrich is waiting to emerge.
