Prairieblues™ Solar Flare Baptisia
Prairieblues™ Solar Flare Baptisia is an upright native perennial known for its heavy blooms and extended racemes. In late spring to early summer, the flower buds begin a bright lemon yellow and transition into rusty orange as they open, creating a dramatic color shift. Because the transition begins at the bottom of the raceme, you can often see all three color tones on a single plant—making it a standout in any garden.
The flowers rise above a mound of clover-like blue-green foliage, and after blooming, the plant produces large seedpods that turn black when ripe, offering lasting visual interest.
This Baptisia grows best in dry to average, well-drained acidic soils and is drought tolerant once established. Its abundant flowers are excellent for pollinators and butterflies, making it a valuable addition to native gardens and pollinator landscapes.
