Variegated Flax Lily

Dianella tasmanica 'Variegata'

Variegated Flax Lily is a clumping herbaceous evergreen perennial with strappy  green grass-like foliage with broad yellow edging.  Flower stocks host clusters of small blue flowers with yellow stamen that bloom throughout spring and may be followed by glossy steel blue berries.  Flowers best with part shade and dry to medium well drained soils.  Variegata does not have reliable fruiting.  Drought tolerant once established.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low maintenance.  Water regularly.  No serious pests or diseases.  Limited hardiness in zone 8; may experience winter dieback but plant should grow back from the roots.

LANDSCAPE USES:  Accents or Group Plantings, Borders, Woodland Gardens, Naturalized Areas, Rock Gardens, Foundational Plantings, Groundcover, and Containers.
