Tangelo Barberry is an upright branching deciduous shrub valued for its vibrant foliage that grows full to the ground.  The small leaves emerge vivid orange and gains a yellow-green margin before flaring up again to bright orange for fall.  Unnoticeable tiny yellow flowers bloom in fall that gives way to small amounts of fruit.  Best color in full sun and well-drained soils. Drought and deer resistant.  Asexual propagation is prohibited.  Tangelo is resistant to rust.

Barberry has known use of the root bark as an anthelmintic, antiseptic and febrifuge, and can be used orally as a treatment for various enteric infections.*
