Ilex Rotunda

Ilex Rotunda (Holly) is a compact, rounded evergreen shrub valued for its tidy growth habit and spiny, rectangular green leaves that provide year-round structure. In spring, Ilex Rotunda produces clusters of small, inconspicuous flowers that, when properly pollinated, develop into abundant bright red berries in fall, persisting well into winter and adding seasonal color. Ideal for low hedges, foundation plantings, and mixed evergreen beds, Ilex Rotunda thrives in moist, slightly acidic, well-drained soils and adapts well to both sun and partial shade. As a dioecious holly variety, Ilex Rotunda requires a nearby male plant to ensure reliable fruit production. MAINTENANCE NEEDS:  Low Maintenance.  Water regularly.   Well-drained soils essential.   Potential issues include mites, scale, leaf spot, rot, and mildew.  Susceptible to leaf scorch or drop if not protected from afternoon sun in hotter climates.
